Itchy Scalp And Hair Loss?
Im a white 20 year old male. healthy fairly in shape. sometimes (usually more often when it is hot outside) my head will itch a lot and when i scratch it it leaves a burning sensation sometimes for a few minutes afterwords. when i scratch my head i can see dead skin under my nails...its not dry skin though, it looks like an easily spreadable wax. in addition to this on occasion when i scratch my head i scratch out a few hairs. when i shower i will consistently see 10-20 hairs fall out. i have tried using selsun blue and that usually works for the itching (not always) but does not usually solve my problem with the hair loss. my father is bald and so is my grandfather so there is no doubt that genetics has something to do with it; however, not all the hair that falls out is thinning at the root. more recently the hairs falling out appear fairly thick. i also have a bad habit of pulling out facial hairs. i wont pull any out for lets say a week and then for a few days i go kind of crazy and pull them out - usually when im alone and bored. i mention this because i usually notice that with in a few days of one of my "binges" of pulling out the hair my hairloss (on my head) is slightly worse. do you have any thoughts on how to prevent this or is it a lost cause?thanks (Read answers)
